BiographY

At best, does the panda evoke a cute teddy bear, or at worst, a Chantal Goya song? Forget your preconceived notions, Panda's Cover Gang is a group of nine musicians who are fans of festive and classy covers.

This urban brass band tackles the sexy groove of Bruno Mars as well as the edgy rock of Offspring. Join the dance, the Pandas are here.

Demis Delatie

Démis Delatie began playing the clarinet at the age of 10. At the same time, his already present interest in instrumental diversity led him to play the accordion at a very young age.

After receiving his conservatory gold medals in clarinet and chamber music in 2002, his classical training led him to join Tempo, the Toulouse Philharmonic, the Toulouse Mozart Orchestra, the Toulouse Wind Orchestra, and the Apasionado trio. He also led the Pibrac Harmony and became a professor at the Tarn Departmental Harmony. From 2015 to 2017, he was in demand as a programmer at the Rex in Toulouse.

His versatility, his artistic plurality and his taste for the stage encouraged him to create the Funky Style Brass in 2005, with which he participated in numerous prestigious festivals (Montreux Jazz Festival, Durham Brass Festival, Hedinbourg Jazz Festival, BrazzObrazzie Sofia, Mexico Metro Jazz Festival, etc.).

From 2009, he joined Daniel Guichard's tours, as well as several hybrid projects as a saxophonist with various DJs from the electro scene. Then in 2010, he created various musical projects: Mister Team, Panda's Cover Gang, Chambre Bleue, Volatero Quarteto, Helado Casero.

From 2005 to 2018, his personal production Dorliz Prod partnered with the Matrisse Productions label. In 2019, the two productions released a catalog entitled Matrisse by Démis, bringing together the various artistic and musical projects managed by Démis Delatie.

Bastien Maury

Bastien Maury started his music career in the Tarn region, studying classical music before continuing at the Toulouse Regional College and then at ISDAT a few years later.

After this course, he devoted himself to the study of jazz and improvised music.

Today, he teaches music education at the CRD du Tarn and the CRR de Toulouse. He is also closely involved with the harmony orchestra community; he has been the director of the Tarn departmental orchestra since 2018 and regularly participates in the direction of the Occitanie regional orchestra.

He is a member of several groups:

Elixir Orchestra, Mam'zelle Bee Swing Orchestra, Funky Style Brass, Panda's Cover Gang, Pink City Orchestra, L'autre Big Band. I also have the opportunity to work regularly with other groups such as the Money Makers, the Big Band Brass...

Patxi Jean De Dieu

Originally from the Basque Coast, Patxi JEAN DE DIEU was 5 years old when he discovered the trumpet thanks to his uncle. He passed on his passion to him by introducing him from a very young age to music theory and breathing techniques learned alongside Robert PICHAUREAU.

Patxi continued his self-taught studies in Bayonne (64). His career took a turning point when he met Arnaud LABASTIE at the Tarnos music school (40), who introduced him to and taught him jazz in a Big Band formation.

Involved in various projects, Patxi teaches trumpet, music theory and collaborates with the brand Fusion Bags (www.fusion-bags.com). An active musician, he performs occasionally or permanently with several groups:

Funky Style Brass, Panda's Cover Gang, Les Incognitos, Pink City Orchestra, Anis Maniacs Big Band, Jezekel Projekt, Tom Frager, HK etc…

Florian Saubois

Florian Saubois began playing the tuba at the Sainte Christie d'Armagnac music school (32) at the age of 7. He continued his musical studies at the Toulouse Regional Conservatory.

Since 2005, he has performed in various groups such as Funky Style Brass, Mister Team, Panda's Cover Gang, Pink City Orchestra, and the Toulouse Wind Orchestra.

Inspired by various groups such as Youngblood Brass Band and Jamiroquaï, he is keen to mix funk music with brass band. Adapting the timbre of his instrument (the sousaphone) to his favorite repertoire is very important to him; he is constantly looking for new sounds according to different styles of music: funk, electro, etc. A professional musician, he has already recorded around fifteen albums and collaborated with numerous groups.

Mikaël Torren

Mikaël Torrenn, originally a drummer, joined the Toulouse Conservatory at the age of 14 where he studied classical percussion and, at the same time, Latin percussion and drums at the Dante Agostini school. He obtained his DEM in classical percussion in 2010 and Contemporary Music in 2012.

During his career, he performed numerous times on renowned stages such as Jazz in Marciac, Tempo Latino, Musicalarue, Cuba Hoy, Jazz sur son 31, Jazz sous les Pommiers and opened for Sergent Garcia, Mlle K, Roberto Fonsceca, Yougblood Brassband… In different formations:

  • Line (trip-hop/rock) currently on percussion

  • Conga Libre (salsa/timba) currently on drums

  • Offground Tag (groove/jazz/world) until 2018 on percussion

  • Funky Style Brass (fanfare/funk/electro) currently on drums

  • Jell-oO (pop/folk) until 2018 on drums

  • Shaken Soda (Brit/Pop/Rock) currently on drums

  • Funky Style Brass (Festive Fanfare) currently on drums

  • Panda's Cover Gang (Cover Band) currently on drums

  • Pink City Orchestra (Film Music) currently on percussion

An instrumentalist with diverse influences, Mikaël composes and arranges, taking advantage of his taste for mixing musical styles.

Guilhem Leblanc

Guilhem Leblanc, born in 1984, began studying the trumpet at the Muret music school (31). He took his first steps with the city's harmony band. He continued his studies at the CRR in Toulouse from 2000 to 2007, years during which he obtained a trumpet prize and a diploma of improvement. He joined the music of the Parachutists of Balma in 2007 as principal cornet. He left the army in 2010 to pursue his personal projects, mainly the group Funky Style Brass with which he has played since 2005.

He will play with many classical groups: Paris Chamber Orchestra, Toulouse Brass Band, Occitania Brass Band, H2O Harmony, Garonne Harmony, Toulouse Mozart Orchestra, Toulouse Philharmonic, South West Symphony Orchestra, but also with many contemporary music groups, such as Calle Reina, Und 'Chaque, tour with Daniel Guichard, Pandas Cover Gang...

In 2015, he founded the Toulouse Wind Orchestra. Since March 2016, he has held the position of Deputy General Manager as an additional member of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, while continuing to play in his various ensembles.

He has been studying the horn since 2016, and now plays with numerous projects (Mauve Amalvy, Trio Ligny, Pink City Orchestra) and participates in various recordings, such as that of the TV show "The Amazing Race" broadcast in prime time on CBS in the USA in 2022.

Jeremy Morello

Jérémy Morello began playing drums at the age of 10 at the Montreal Music School in Gers. He quickly joined local wind bands, bandas, and then marching bands to perfect his musical skills.

Once his training had begun after several years of practice, he began teaching in several schools in Gers. At the same time, he studied boilermaking until obtaining a vocational baccalaureate.

After that, he decided to further his knowledge by joining the Dante Agostini Drum School and the Toulouse Conservatory. In 2016, Jérémy obtained first prize in drums at the Dante Agostini School and a DEM in classical drums at the Toulouse Conservatory. In 2017, he obtained a DEM in contemporary music, also at the Toulouse Conservatory.

Jérémy plays in various musical groups: Panda's Cover Gang, Mat Skalski, Big Moustache, Birdy Bones, Ali baba et les 40 tambours, Elastic Band; and also in theater, where he works on acting, sound, lighting and musical arrangements.

Fabien Versavel

Born in 1979, Fabien Versavel began learning music and the trumpet at the age of 5 at the Montauban Conservatory. A few years later, he continued his studies at the Toulouse Conservatory, where he earned prizes for trumpet, musical training, and the Assistant Professor Diploma in trumpet.

In 2005, he joined the Bordeaux Air Force Music Orchestra and remained there until 2012.

At the same time, he participated in the creation of the group "le Funky Style Brass", in which he plays keyboards and for which he collaborates on the writing and arrangements of the compositions.

A member of other groups such as the "Panda's Cover Gang", the "Pink City Orchestra", the "Manhattan Sisters and Boys", the "Toulouse Wind Orchestra" and the "Elutins Crétins" fanfare, he is also regularly called upon as an additional trumpeter in the "Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse", in the "Ensemble Baroque de Toulouse", the "Toulouse Lyrique" orchestra, and the "La Machine" orchestra in Toulouse.

He also works in teaching as a trumpet teacher, first at the Toulouse Regional Conservatory (CRR) and then at the Blagnac and Cugnaux Regional Conservatories (CRR). He is currently involved in the creation of new shows with the "Pink City Orchestra: Les Etoiles du Cinéma" (Pink City Orchestra: The Stars of Cinema) and accompanies the artist Mauve Amalvy.

Guillaume Ceretto

Guillaume Ceretto began playing the trombone at the age of 7 at the VicFezensac music school (Gers). After graduating from high school, he moved on to study computer science, but after obtaining his degree, he chose to put music back at the forefront. He obtained a DEM in Jazz in 2017 at the Montauban Conservatory and is preparing a State Diploma in Contemporary Music for 2022.

On the artistic side, Guillaume is currently a trombonist in several Toulouse groups: Funky Style Brass, Panda's Cover Gang, Pink City Orchestra, Conga Libre, L'Autre Big Band etc. He uses his skills as an arranger for most of his projects, such as the Pink City Orchestra for which he wrote around ten arrangements of the show "Les étoiles du cinéma".

On the teaching side, Guillaume is also a professor of trombone and contemporary music at the Lomagne Gersoise Intercommunal Music School. Finally, he directs the Harmonie Union Vicoise, a wind band from Vic-Fezensac, his hometown. Several of his arrangements written for his students are published by Profs Editions.
