BiographY
We are pirates, people of the harbor, our boat is Cumbia, and our music is turned towards the sea. This crossing began with the desire to dance. The currents pushed us to sail ever further, and the winds filled our sails until the recording of our first EP, Zarpando.
Our electrifying Electro Cumbia contaminates the atmosphere and helps to break the daily grind. Evangelists of rhythm and incorrigible enthusiasts, our concerts are a shot of energy.
Our group was born in the summer of 2019 in Barcelona, for the Fiestas Majors del Raval. Several artistic spaces showed their interest in our fresh, bold, and original offerings. We scoured the biggest Fiestas Mayores de Barcelona until musicians joined our flow, and together, a synergy was created that would push us to compose and find our own sound. For the Chile Despertó Festival 2020, we shared the stage with the French-Chilean rapper Ana Tijoux.
We celebrated the launch of each EP with a series of concerts at La Bàscula, DioBar, Festival TuDanzas, participated in the Latineo cycle of the Mas i Mas Festival (Jamboree) and the Posidonia Green Festival. Recently, in France, we had the opportunity to perform live at Festilane (Bessan), La Fête d'Olargues, Ponta Loca (Pontaix) with Papet J, the singer from Massilia, at Bastid'Art (Bourgougnague) with HK and the Saltimbanks, at the MIA Festival (Châlons-en-Champagne) and at the Somm'And Festival.
Our music has also been broadcast on RTL2, a national radio station. After the release of La Cumbia nos Salvará at the Jamboree and Sala Nau, we participated in the Sur Festival in Pichilemu, Chile, last February, with Trueno & Steel Pulse as headliners.
Our new single will be released in 2025 with the release of two live sessions recorded at Sol de Sants Studio.
OUR SOUND
Our sound is a fusion of several musical styles, perfectly reflecting the diversity of the band members.
Cumbia rhythms and other Afro-Caribbean influences are mixed with the electronic fusion production of our beatmaker Céline, La Portenya DJ (French), the electric guitar with funk arrangements is the prerogative of Gabriel “El Gato” (Venezuelan) and the bass with hints of Rock is navigated by Nick Perroow (French/Dutch) who comes from heavier metal. The crazy percussions are orchestrated by our cabin boy: Facu “Vrajitor” from Argentina. Davide “Tarumbò” and Juani “Zomda” from the brass section, the latest to join the adventure, make the ocean winds blow and fill our sails. And the pirate king, Mikio Kaisoku (Chilean/Japanese), our singer and captain, is as influenced by 80s Latin Rock, Raggamuffin, and Hip-hop as he is by Cumbia and Bolero. He is also an outstanding frontman with a solid stage presence and a good dose of humor, interacting with the audience in several languages. With all these ingredients, music, diversity, and exoticism are served.
